Red, White, and Black

As much as I would like to think it's been a cold winter in LA, I know I'm being dramatic to all you east coasters. During the day it's not that bad hence why I can wear this skort with thigh highs and be totally fashion appropriate. I've worn this skort multiple times and each time I find different things to pair it with; versatility at its finest. This long line flannel shirt can be worn as a dress as well but in this look I used it as a "cardigan" if you will. I wanted to look edgy but not look hoochie. Which is why I went for a modest crop top and went for thigh highs to not show too much leg. I know red is a Christmas color but for me, I like to wear it all year round. Enjoy the look!

Motivation Monday!

As I'm typing this I realize that this is the last #MotivationMonday I will write for the year of 2015. I think it was this year where I started with the idea of having Motivation Monday and I honestly couldn't be happier. I like the idea of bringing something other than fashion to my blog, to show others that there's more to me than just the #ootd's. Regardless if this is a fashion blog, I will still continue to write these because of positive energy they exude when you read them. Sometimes I feel like I am writing to myself and trying to get myself pumped for the week and if you feel like that when you read this, then my job and point of these posts are well read. I don't want to go into the usual "5 things to do in 2016" or anything like that but rather I want to leave you with some wisdom that has always resonated with me.

When I first started the whole fashion thing on Instagram I'll admit that I was a bit shy and felt weird about it. There was people out there that knew me and since I was doing something different they saw it as weird. And at first, it bothered me. It made me feel self conscious that there were people out there thinking that what I was doing was funny or crazy. But the more positive feedback I got from it, the more it pushed me to continue. It was then that I learned that being a fashion blogger and starting a YouTube channel leaves you vulnerable to a lot of opinions; and in order to persevere through that you have to develop very thick skin. You have to develop an attitude of "I don't care what other people think" because it's going to be what keeps you going. Once I started doing that, I allowed myself to be free and I let my creative ability run wild. I felt as though my wings were no longer clipped and I was able to do whatever I wanted, when I wanted, and how I wanted.

In a generation where we are constantly being ridiculed and watched, it is hard to be ourselves. It is hard to really just do our own thing and be happy about it. We might not have the best support system either so on top of that it can be even harder to continue doing what you love. But I'm telling you first hand that even if people think your ideas are crazy, DO THEM ANYWAY. We don't go through life living based on what people think is good or not. Don't you dare let that affect your desires either. The most out of this world ideas are often the best ones and it is when you do something that is different and scares you, you will flourish. You aren't here to make anyone else happy but yourself. Think outside of the box and be different. Continue to go after what you want and let that be your focal point. You're only capable of as much as you allow yourself to be.
HAPPY MONDAY & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas

Ho, ho, ho everyone! Merry Christmas! The time is finally here and I really can't believe that yet, another year has came and went. I feel like this time around Christmas came so fast, I didn't have enough time to prepare. Never the less, I am thankful and grateful to be here and healthy, enjoying it with my family. This year has been a major growth spurt for me and I've learned quite a few things. Family, being one of them, is the most important thing more than ever. I'm so happy that they are there when I need them and I get to spend this holiday season with them. Since last year we've been doing themed Christmas get togethers and this year is "Ugly Christmas Sweater" theme. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make my own ugly sweater but Target saved me and I got this sweater vest from there. Instead of just going with the sweater and jeans look I got a little more festive and paired it with a red maxi skirt; total Christmas color! To dress it up I chose to wear my low heels from H&M and added the pearl necklace for some fanciness. I hope you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Enjoy!

Brooklyn's Finest

Okay, so I'm not really from Brooklyn; the title was just fitting for the outfit. I look like I just walked straight out of New Yawk - I do dream of going there sometime soon. In the meantime, I can brush up on my styling skills for the day. This sweater dress has been sitting in my closet for probably over a year (bad, I know!) and I finally made it a point to wear it. When I first got it I knew I was going to wear it perfectly with my Timbs and knee high socks, I was just waiting for the right moment. It's definitely one of those casual but bad ass looks. Ya know, the one where you look like you don't really care about how you look, but you look good doing it; yeah one of those. What made this outfit even more to my liking was that I decided to add the white hat and I love how it contrasted perfectly against the outfit. I really think this outfit was very "Jenny from the block" and I'm perfectly okay with that, I love me some street style.
